Hair Extensions will behave as your own natural hair. Natural hair loss is normal and to be expected. (This is the hair which you would find in the plug hole or your hair brush) On average you loose between 50-150 hairs a day so it is normal that some of these hairs will remain trapped inside your bonds. This will also cause some matting during wear.

It is also normal to expect a percentage of extension loss during the course of wear, approximately 10-20 strands.

Observing the following guidelines combined with the regular use of the correct aftercare products, will extend the lifespan of your Hair Extensions. If you choose not to use the recommended products, it is at your own risk of deterioration of the bonds and hair extension's condition. I accept no liability in this event and the hair can be sent away for testing to confirm if anything has been used that shouldn’t.

Some clients report itching from extensions, this is normal and usually lasts a few days in the second week after fitting. If you get itching after that, it may be that you need to wash your hair if natural oils have built up or it may be that products have built up around your roots. Most clients also report that the extensions are uncomfortable to sleep on for the first 3-7 days but once the bonds soften, they will be much more comfortable!

Cleansing
-      This should be done in an upright position in the shower. You are strongly advised not to lean over the bath with your head upside down.
-     Always use the recommended shampoo available here.
-     Do not use the traditional circular rubbing motion as this may tangle the bonds and cause matting, use an up and down massaging motion all over the scalp, moving gently down to the mid lengths and ends. Ensure the shampoo is thoroughly rinsed. Visit THE SHOP to purchase a scalp massaging brush that is perfect for this.
-      Do not dry hair with a rubbing motion but gently blot. Wrap in the towel to absorb the moisture, then remove. Never leave the hair to dry wrapped up in a towel.

Conditioning
-     Always use the recommended conditioner and conditioning treatment for the extensions you are wearing. Some conditioners have silicone additives which will cause a build up on the hair.
-    Condition the mid lengths and ends only.
-      Never apply conditioner over the bonds as this will cause bond breakdown and slipping.
-     Serums should never be applied to the bonds.

Drying
-    The bond is at its most vulnerable when it is wet so it is essential to thoroughly dry your bonds first on a low heat setting, even if you intend to allow the rest to dry naturally.
-     If blow drying your entire extensions use a mild heat and always finish with the 'cold shot' setting. Your extensions will take longer to dry than natural hair!
-     NEVER EVER tie your hair up whilst it is wet - this will cause your extensions to clump together and form a matt ball.

Heated Styling Tools
-     Straighteners, Tongs and Heated Rollers can all be used but must be kept away from the bonds as they will cause them to melt if they come into contact.
-     Always use the recommended heat protection product.

Brushing
-     The recommended extension brush available in THE SHOP should always be used. These are designed to allow brushing at the root without damaging the bonds.
-    Section the hair into 3-4 rows, starting at the bottom row, supporting the hair at the bond, begin from the ends, using downward strokes, gradually working your way up to the roots. The flexible bristles on your extension brush will get in at the scalp above the bond and then bend over the bond without snagging. If you have any knotting you can also use our Detangle Brush for the tougher knots but this is NOT for use over the bond area.
Repeat through all sections.

-     Once a week separate the bonds one by one, row by row as occasionally they can get tangled with the neighbouring bond.

Sleeping
-     Tie hair in a loose low ponytail or plait, the plait also produces nice waves for the following day.
-     Never sleep with hair wet.

Swimming
-     Always tie up and shampoo immediately after.
-    Never leave wet hair tied up after swimming.

Exercise
-     Tie hair up and wash thoroughly after.
-      Perspiration / sweat contains salt which can cause bond deterioration. Sweating also means your hair is in a damp environment.

Saunas / Steam Rooms
-     Regular use is not recommended.
-     For occasional use wrap dry hair in a towel or hair turban.

Sunbeds
-      Wrap dry hair in a towel or hair turban

Styling Products
-     Styling products can be used but avoid products containing silicone.
-     Never apply products on the bonds.

Colouring Your Extensions
-     Colouring of your hair extensions is done at your own risk. There are no guarantees even if the colour service has been carried out by a professional. Always perform a strand test first.

Cutting
-      Extensions should be cut using a completely different technique than natural hair, so always return to your technician for a trim.
-      During your course of wear it is advised you have a trim to keep your extensions looking pristine.

These guidelines may make it seem like a lot of hard work, but once you have read through and start getting in to your own routine, it will become second nature.
